You will need to open the following spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel or Open Office:
Dear Parent/Carer,
Please find enclosed a copy of the entry list of exam units for summer 2012 which have been made on behalf of your son/daughter, including the total fees that the school will pay the Examination Boards for these entries. The exam entries are made on the understanding that you agree to the following conditions:
Also enclosed is your son/daughter’s DEFAULT timetable. This is provided to enable you to check the personal details and the date on which each written exam is scheduled. It is not the FINAL timetable.
NB: There may be some re-sit entries required for your son/daughter which we are not yet aware of and which depend on the results from exams held in January and March and the scheduled dates of these may be later than the last date shown on the Default Timetable.
Please note that all written exam dates and start times are scheduled by the Examination Boards and that the school sometimes is allowed to vary the times slightly (but not the date) as a result of exam clashes and/or rooming issues. The Default Timetable confirms the scheduled dates of your son’s/daughter’s exams but the Individual Exam Timetable, which will be issued to all students during March, will detail exact start/finish times and venues. Therefore, students must refer to their Individual Exam Timetables at all times throughout the exam period. Any queries should be referred to the Exams Office.
I would also like to draw your attention to the personal details section at the top of the Default Timetable. These are the details that will appear on the final certificates issued to your son/daughter by the Examination Boards. If you wish to amend any of these details then please let the Exams Office know immediately.
Please return the signed confirmation slip below by Friday 10th February as the school has to submit the exam entries very soon after this date and any late entries will incur an additional fee. If the confirmation slip is not signed and returned by this date we will assume that the entry details for your son/daughter are correct and complete and submit them accordingly.
GCSE results will be available for collection from school after 10:00am on Thursday 23rd August.
Yours sincerely,
C F Whittingham

The strong A level and AS results from summer 2011 are now complemented by equally good Year 11 GCSE results. Many thanks and congratulations to all of our staff and students who have achieved such wonderful things together.
Over a quarter of our students achieved at least 3 A or A* grades. Well over half of our students gained five or more A*-C grades including English and Maths (54%).
Students achieved the highest individual points scores we have ever seen at 420 GCSE points per candidate (10 and a half grade C’s on average per candidate) and also the highest capped point score (best 8 exams) at 330 points per student.
Over 20 students achieved mainly A* and A grade results in all of their GCSE exams.
Hopefully these results will ensure that many of our students will enjoy the last few days of the Summer Holiday.

We are again delighted with our Y13 students following today’s exam results. A quarter of all entries resulted in a grade A* or A and over half of all entries gave an outcome between A* and B. Congratulations to all students and thanks for all the effort. Individual points score average after 2 years of 6th form was 843 points, quite remarkable when you consider that an A* grade is worth 300 points.
We would also like to thank all of the teachers of Y13 for their dedication and hard work.
Y12 also deserve a mention as 23% of all their AS entries resulted in a grade A result. This is fantastic.
There were, as usual, some outstanding individual performances in A level exams. Sarah Hurst and Emma Roberts achieved the magical 3 A* grades at A level and at least a dozen scored all A’s and A*’s.
Well done!
Marcus Chapman

I am delighted to inform you of the results of a recent Ofsted inspection.
Due to the success and reputation of the school Ofsted asked if they could come and inspect an aspect of our practice. This is considered a great honour as the report is used to contribute to and effect national provision. I agreed and Ian Middleton, one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors, studied the effect of visual arts, creativity and independence on students’ wider achievement in particular English, Maths and Science.
I hope that you enjoy reading the report. The staff at the school are extremely pleased with the findings. As Headteacher, I am proud of their work and the level of students’ achievements which the report highlights.
I am of the firm belief that the approach to education, which is celebrated in the report, is fundamental to the incredible level of success enjoyed by our Sixth Form students. I hope you will have seen in the press recently that last years’ Sixth Form progress results were the highest achieved by any mixed, state-funded school in the entire country. As the school goes from strength to strength, as ever I thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
Martin Williams
